St Matthew's Church
Blackmoor and Whitehill
The Drop-In has been running in Whitehill Village Hall every Friday since November 2010.
Everyone is welcome to come along between 9.30am and 12 noon, when they can enjoy delicious homemade cakes, pastries and biscuits, with tea, coffee, hot chocolate or cold drinks. For the early arrivals there is also buttered toast with marmalade or jam.
People can sit together and enjoy a chat and a laugh together but if they just wish to sit quietly, they can. There is often one or two Ministers present who are ready to listen to anybody who may feel the need to share a problem with them.
Children are made particularly welcome and there is a cupboard with many toys for them to play with. They have lots and lots of space to run around and nobody minds how they spend the time enjoying themselves.
Old and young sit side by side in the congenial atmosphere and the numbers visiting have grown beyond belief.
There is no charge. However, if people wish to make a donation towards the coffee and cakes, they can do so.
Everybody is made welcome and many people come back again and again. The Drop-In on Friday mornings provides the opportunity for the local community to meet in their own village hall.
