More about our Sunday Morning Services

Sunday worship at St. Matthew's is held at 10am and lasts for about an hour. Tea and coffee are served after the service, and you are encouraged to stay in church after worship for a chat and a catch-up!

The service usually includes Holy Communion, and it is our policy to freely encourage all adults and confirmed children to receive Communion.

Our services are relaxed in style and hope to be welcoming to all, particularly newcomers and enquirers. These services include music led by an organ and choir and you can expect to sing a mixture of both traditional hymns and modern worship songs every Sunday. The choir will also often sing an anthem and have a wide repertoire.

The services are easy to follow, and there are large print hymn books and service books available. There is a loop system for those with hearing aids, and a ramp for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

On the third Sunday of each month, we hold an all-age family service at 10am. This service does not include Holy Communion and uses modern worship music led by the piano and other instruments. There is teaching for adults and children alike and the style is more relaxed. This service lasts for about 45 minutes.

At 9am on these days, there is a said service of Holy Communion, followed by coffee and croissants.

Healing is also an important part of St Matthew's ministry, and special healing services are offered throughout the year where you can receive individual prayer and the laying on of hands from our experienced and gifted Pastoral Care Team.

Weekday Services

On Wednesday evenings at 7pm there is a shorter, spoken service of Holy Communion.
