St Matthew's Church

Blackmoor and Whitehill

House Group

The house group was established in January 2013 and meets once a month in Bordon. Leadership is shared by a range of people including regular members of our congregation and/or guest presenters.

This is a mixed-gender group and our aims are to:

  • Grow spiritually and support each other through prayer.
  • Exchange news and value individual life experiences, differences and views.
  • Share in discussion and to consider the practical application of God’s word in our lives and the world.
  • To socialise, relax, have fun and support each other in a very informal environment.

Our topical debates are wide ranging and stimulating. To date these have included:

  • What does it mean to be a Christian/ What faith does
  • Influential People/ Requisites for contented living
  • A moment with God/Personal experiences
  • Hope, Prayer & Light

A typical meeting consists of: prayer, topical debate, down time, and reflection. Drinks and light refreshments are also served.

The house group is evolving and going from strength to strength. It is an excellent example of our commitment to inclusion, having a strong presence within the community, and deepening of our friendships within our parish and beyond. We have some very inspirational and impressive themes over the coming months; all are warmly welcome!

From 2014 we are varying the days and times of events to include afternoon tea and an organised trip to a Chichester Cathedral.

Dates, times and details of each group are published monthly via the pew sheet.

We look forward to seeing you!
